I love old movies. Last month I was watching Funny Face, the 1957 musical comedy starring Audrey Hepburn. The movie opens with the editor of a woman’s fashion magazine lamenting that the upcoming issue lacks pizzazz, lacks excitement, lacks that certain something to inspire her readers. Then she has a spark of inspiration, PINK, and the musical number THINK PINK! begins, complete with snappy lyrics and dance steps. It got me thinking, why not Tyger Tyger do THINK PINK? Yes, Valentine’s Day is coming, but PINK is that fab pop of color that’s perfect for any time of year.

There is another scene in the movie worth mentioning. Audrey, dressed in a flowing red gown, rushes down the grand staircase at The Louvre while Fred Astaire photographs her. Her arms are raised in exhilaration and her expression is one of pure joy. He snaps the picture and captures that celebratory moment. That moment was the inspiration for the perfume WINGS by Giorgio Beverly Hills. I worked at Giorgio during the time the fragrance was being developed. Our in-house perfumer loved this movie and instructed our “nose,” Jean Claude Delville, to create a perfume that embodies that moment in the movie. Romantic gardenia was paired with exotic jasmine and blue rose notes, along with other unique florals and WINGS was born.

Here is the advertisement for the original launch of WINGS — you can see the inspiration from the movie. I worked at Giorgio Beverly Hills, the icon of Rodeo Drive, as a graphic designer for many years and one of the first things I learned was that all great fragrances, including the original Giorgio perfume, start with a spark of inspiration. Imagine, a scene from a 1957 Audrey Hepburn movie was the inspiration that became WINGS perfume.

I've been a graphic designer in the beauty industry for 20 years and in that time I've seen a lot of cosmetic bags. So I know a great bag when I see one. And I know that they're used for much more than just makeup.

That led me to a simple idea: Why not curate my own collection of unique cosmetic bags that change with the seasons, similar to what's done in the fashion industry. Offer a changing variety of bags to use in any creative way you can dream of.

So I put together new collections of fun, fashionable, and functional bags you're not likely to see anywhere else. But I only source a limited quantity of each style, so if you see a bag you like, get it now, because when they're gone, they're gone! That's the thrill of the treasure hunt.
